Now, here at COP27, at the Singapore Partnership and Networking Dinner hosted by the Singapore Pavilion, I finally got to try chicken not made from chicken. This means no factory-churned chickens, no deforesting to grow crops to feed (no, not people) chicken, no water wasted to grow crops going to (no, not people) chicken, no antibiotics to millions of chickens that create antibiotic resistance in humans, no animal cruelty, no pandemic risk from billions of birds living in their feces, beak to butt….all the waste of an inefficient and risky system disappears with cultivated meat.
Free-range and organic chickens are getting pricier in Singapore, as people hunt for alternatives after Malaysia banned exports of the more common broiler chicken. With freight costs rising, it won’t be long before customers have to pay even more.
